Despite aging Starr is colorless due to filtration. This product is unusual because Mauritius was a French colony but they produce it with molasses instead of in a sugar cane/agricole style.
Flinty and spicy nose with underlying brown sugar and perfumey vanilla.
The flavor is really unique in the light rum category. It is very rich and smoky/flinty with some notes of cocoa and a big note of vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium-to-full.
The finish is long lasting vanilla and subtle molasses.
